Big, rich, creamy, complex Chardonnay from Marlborough's Southern Valleys!

"The 2019 Southern Valleys Chardonnay is grown on the Hammonds vineyard, a
western facing slope with heavy clay soils. This wine is 100 percent Clone 95, a clone
we love to work with for its power and texture.

The grapes were hand-picked, and pressed slowly into oak barrels, with 20% new
French oak. We let this wine ferment naturally, with minimal stirring. After natural
malolactic fermentation, the wine was left on lees in barrel until bottling with no
fining or filtering in February 2020.

A coiled wine, with grapefruit and lemon citrus on the nose. There is also a distinct
flinty character from the wild ferment. Some toasty oak supports the fruit on the
palate before the long, juicy finish, with citrus peel and creamy notes carrying
through. This wine is great to drink now and will improve over the next 5 years."
