A lighter take on the Nebbiolo genre, more akin to Pinot than what we expect from Barolo and Barbaresco. Luca Faccenda farms this wine from the Valmaggiore Cru, a patch of old vines on an almost-vertical slope accessible only via a trek through the surrounding woods. It is one of the most beautiful vineyards we have seen.
The wine is wild fermented in old barrels and no pumpovers are made, in order to keep all the nuance and perfume these soft, sandy slopes provide. Natural.
