VITICULTURE/WINEMAKING NOTES / From one of the oldest vineyards in North Canterbury (45 years old) this single-vineyard wine is a blend of Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Gewürtztraminer. The proportion of each varietal varies each vintage depending on crop levels. All the varieties are harvested together when the Riesling is ripe, destemmed, and co-fermented on skins using native yeasts. The wine is then left on skins for six weeks before pressing into Spanish amphora for ageing. Bottled unfined, and unfiltered.
TASTING NOTE / Earthy, spicy and bright.
WINEMAKERS NOTE / “An exercise in old vine layering and a homage to the pioneering nature of early New Zealand vineyards. The 2020 wines are full of clarity, drive, and insight. They will age beautifully too. I love this vintage.” - Theo Coles.
