"At Little Wing, our focus and passion is Syrah, with a smaller amount of Marsanne and a splash of Viognier for good measure.

After graduating with our Viticulture and Enology degrees in California and New Zealand, respectively, we met while interning on the Sonoma Coast and spent the next few years working in wine regions around the world. In 2014 we purchased a nearly abandoned oceanfront vineyard on scenic Waiheke Island. We've spent the last 3 years resurrecting the property, reviving what was salvageable and re-planting new areas.

We tend the vines ourselves from pruning to harvesting, and make the wine onsite - the only part that doesn't happen here is the bottling. The vines are close planted (around 6,500/ha) and hand- worked in the heavy clay soil. Though we're not certified at this stage, we focus on organic growing and strive to let the grapes, vintage and site express themselves in the finished wine. This means natural fermentation, no additives such as enzymes, tannin, or fining agents, and little to no sulphur additions." - Little Wing Vineyard
