Run by matriarch Elena Walch and her two daughters, this family owned vineyard in the Dolomite Mountains, the site produces famously concentrated Lagrein.  Dense garnet in colour: ageing in oak barrels produces a complex bouquet of spice and cocoa There are wild berries and sweet cherries in the background. This has a rustic elegance and distinctive tannin structure but alongside a powerful, fresh juiciness. Drink now, but it will certainly keep developing for another 5 to 7 years.
