Just in time for Christmas we have got a little of this special release fruit wine. Last year the combination of fruity apple, wonderfully floral and evocative elderflower and sweet vanilla sold out in no time! We think this is a great alternative to port on a NZ Christmas table - lighter and wonderfully fragrant, while still packing a sweet, fortified punch - great for ending a Christmas feast and sipping quietly as you enjoy a couple of choccies.
A rich golden colour with the nose of a cold vanilla milkshake.
This tastes sweet and lush; strong on the brandy that sets the tongue tingling. Vanilla buttery creaminess cut through by fruity apple and a subtle floral overtone.
The wine was made in April 2024 using apples winemaker SandRa's Eketahuna property (Belle de Boskoop, a Dutch heirloom apple) and elderflowers that had been gathered and dried in December 2023.
Made into a purposefully sweet wine, it was left to ferment until December then blended with distilled brandy that SandRa makes herself and that six months prior had whole vanilla pods dropped in to infuse. Once blended and bottled it was aged for 12 months before release.
