Chenin Blanc is a wine made famous by South Africa. This is made from old bush vines planted in weathered granite topsoil and crumbly clay sub-soil. Some of the fruit comes from a vineyard planted in 1947 (second oldest Chenin in the country). The Kaapzicht vineyard remains family-owned and run into the fourth generation and while its particularly famous for its Pinotage - this Chenin is an excellent example of what the grape is capable of.
Ripe quince, pineapple and stone fruit with some interesting savory undertones. Lightly textured palate, with a hint of sweetness and balancing crunchy acid, results in a brisk finish. This is a real food wine - and perfect for the summer BBQ season.
