Skin-fermented Pinot Gris, aged 11 months in a 700l oak barrel.
"This wine is a joy for me, everything about its character uplifts me - of course I know the back story, it's place of birth and the life that thrives on the farm of James and Barbara Walker. Approx 20km north of Martinborough and our winery in a narrow valley with steep hills on both sides is a geological boundary where ocean once met the land, here on an ancient beach front fossilized oyster shells litter the landscape and a small 2 acre plot of grapevines are tended as part of a diverse sustainable farmstead.
We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have the opportunity to ferment and share this fruit with our friends around the world. 2018 was a great year for this cooler site, and our most significant crop to date all of which fitted into one 700L barrel. This wine will always be rare and we have chosen to express it as a skin fermented piece substantial and warming, yet salty and fresh. I do hope you enjoy discovering its inner voice, all the best."
