Little Wing are an amazing new estate on Waiheke Island focusing on Syrah and white Rhone varieties Viognier and Marsanne. Reviving and replanting a dilapidated vineyard they now farm organically and work with the lightest of hands making them one of Auckland's few natural producers. This is unequivocally Syrah Pet Nat rather than simply rose wine and is bottled without S02.
"Méthode ancestrale is an ancient technique for making sparkling wine, where the wine is bottled before primary fermentation is finished, without the addition of yeast or sugar. This wine was hand-harvested, manually basket pressed, naturally fermented in old oak and aged on lees for 8 months in bottle. Hand disgorged, unfined and unfiltered, and no sulphur added. A light sediment may remain. Fresh, lively and exuberantly effervescent, opening each bottle is a surprise - reminiscent of the time and place in which it was bottled."
