This wine is a complete revelation, from Rockferry (a producer with vineyards in both Central Otago and Marlborough) who have quickly come to be regarded as making some of the most exciting méthode wines made in NZ. This is an utterly stunning 100% Pinot Blanc méthode. Grown on their 'Orchard' Vineyard in Rapaura (their other sparkling bottling hail from Central Otago.) This is packed with acidity and focus, with lots of apple, baked pear notes and Pinot Blanc's prototypical crunch. Incidentally, Pinot Blanc, while unusual, is one of the permitted varieties in Champagne. However this is a first for NZ. Aged 11 months in barrel and 18 months in bottle; this is an amazing value, complex NZ fizz.

“Aromas of fresh pears and apple, there’s a preserved citrus quality and fine lees spice layer. On the palate a crisp and dry wine with a moderately fine bubble and plush mousse texture. Flavours of white fleshed fruits and citrus, a whisper of ginger spice and a saline note. Balanced and well made with a moderate lengthy and complexity. best drinking from day of purchase through end of summer 2025.” – Cameron Douglas MS
