Bryterlater is the brainchild of James Graves Opie, a sommelier turned winemaker based in North Canterbury. In 2021 Frederick replaces Earnest which was frosted out, from the same vineyard as Petina comes a brooding, earthy, expressive Pinot.
"Clone 5; so traditionally not the most sought after clone for still pinot. I locked it away in stailnless and infused it for 5 weeks with a gentle 40L pourover morning and night. The result is incredible, couldn't be happier. Really locked in all those sulphides to fill out the pallet and the wine is brooding and dark with a soft but supportive tannin. Experimentation works, sometimes."
