Evolving since it's first release (a very dark rosé); Sunburn is now a vibrant, drink-chilled, light red made by carbonic maceration of Cabernet Franc grapes grown on a small, hillside vineyard in Maraekakaho, Central Hawkes Bay. Light and juicy with a firm bone of signature Cab Franc acidity running through the wine this wine is packed with blackcurrant, bramble, lifted herbal notes and just a touch of wildness. This wine weighs in at just 10.50% ABV (without feeling light or thin) and is perfect served chilled or just below room temperature.
"A lifted and fresh fruited bouquet suggesting plums and red currants, a fine light herb layer and gentle bubble-gum quality (that’s the carbonic process chatting). Dry, crisp, some layers of fine fruit tannins, plenty of acidity and freshness. Balanced and well made, drinking best now and through 2025." - Cameron Douglas MS
