In the foothills of Mt Karioi and overlooking Ruapuke Beach; it would be difficult to find a site less likely to be growing great grapes. David and Haylee are growing a micro-vineyard of Syrah, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris and David is crafting wines from the now six year old vines.
This Syrah is is second vintage and is already drinking well. There's some great spice upfront - cloves, some pepper and baking spice. In the mouth its all fresh red and black berries with plenty of acid. This wine will continue to improve with age - if you let it get that far!
