Focused, rich and expressive; Dehours is a small RM (Récoltant manipulant) or grower that makes, bottles and markets wine exclusively from their own property. Established in 1930 by his grandfather, Jerome inherited the estate at a young age and unfortunately was forced to sell however since 1996 has set about re-purchasing his family holding and re-creating the estate. The estate is managed organically (albeit uncertified) and the wines are bottled unfiltered and with minimal added sulphur to allow the true expression of terroir.
Base vintage is 2014 with 30% coming from the perpetual reserve dating back to 1998. The reserve is a solera, large format oak, so expect some oxidative/sherry notes contributing to the complex flavour profile: Fruit, spice, nuts, spun caramel, patissiere flakes....aged in the bottle for about 6.5 years, this is the biggest and boldest of the Dehours et Fils wines. The bubbles again are tiny, fast moving and delicate. This is ideal for rich dishes, whether scallops in creamy sauce, fatty foods or croissants at breakfast time.
