Kerner is originally a German grape - a crossing of Trollinger and Riesling which produces highly aromatic wines. First grown in Hokkaido in the 1970s, it is now an important part of the emerging Japanese wine industry. This example is whole-bunch pressed followed by natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks over about a month to preserve and enhance the wine’s aromatic profile.
